Home school in Los Cabos is sometimes the only choice for a family where the parents are working and the children are not able to participate in a curriculum in Spanish.  If the children are young enough, they will quickly pick up the new language and if they don’t they are not really concerned about their grades.  Older children however, find learning a new language a bigger challenge and if they don’t quickly adjust, their grades fall.  This can be disheartening for the conscientious student.  Home school allows them to complete their studies in their native language and maintain or improve their grades.

Additionally, many families living in Los Cabos are more apt to travel back and forth to their home country, or have relatives and friends for extended visits.  When kids attend home school they can take a month away from class and when they return they just pick up where they left off.  They don’t have to worry about missing any lessons.

Classes run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 2:30.  We have a “News of the Day” break when students rotate responsibility for presenting a news story to the class.  In addition to building reading skills, this activity boosts their public speaking confidence and abilities.  We have a forty minute lunch break and an afternoon break.  Children can eat and drink during class time so as to not be distracted by a grumbling tummy.  The kids are especially happy they don’t have to cut their hair or wear uniforms.

Los Cabos location of Greengate International SchoolBy choosing an alternative school environment for your children, you provide them with the opportunity to navigate through and excel at their chosen curriculum at the speed that works best for them and their family.  In addition to greater comprehension and improved grades, the distance learning programs help students learn effective study habits and essential time-management skills.

Traditional, school-based programs are structured for twenty to thirty students who move through a curriculum at a rate of completion set by the teacher.  Our alternative ensures students learn how to plan what they want to accomplish each day, what they need to do for homework and how to monitor their own progress.  These are skills that they will need for the rest of their lives.

Students in control of their studies thrive with personal guidance that encourages them to move forward.

An alternative school format also allows students to devote the time they need to each lesson.  Rather than moving at the pace of everyone else in a classroom, students can move quickly through the lessons that come easily and not get bored while the rest of the class catches up.  Equally, students can spend more time going over a lesson and thoroughly grasp difficult concepts that are lost when the classroom teacher moves on to the next lesson.

We supervise distance education programs from the U.S., Canada, or anywhere else in the world either in the classroom or via SKYPE. Each student is provided with their personal Lesson Tracking Plan that assists students in successfully completing their independent studies in a timely manner.

Students receive the individual attention they need when they have difficulty understanding lessons.  With a maximum of 10 students in a class, they are attended to immediately with the assistance they need to move on with their lessons.  When students feel they are in charge of their schooling it becomes more meaningful and significant, leading to greater success now and in the future.
