BajaInsider Update November 2, 2018

Hello BajaInsider Subscribers:

Let's start with timely events in this issue. First, today is Day of the Dead, where across Mexico folks celebrate those who have gone before us in a truely unique way. Second, we welcome our new sponsor Marina Puerto Escondido to our pages and they want to invite you to their Grand Opening on November 3. And finally we have details of the Baja 1000 which this year will run the northern state of Baja California only.

It is that time of year when the snowbirds start flocking to the peninsula and the Sea of Cortez Cruising Season will begin shortly with the arrival of the Baja HaHa fleet of more than 130 boats. We have a road report from Baja Hwy 5 that one day will trim hours off the trip south, but we hear it's still just a little rugged for smaller cars and trailers.

We would remind you that as of 2014 Auto Liability Insurance is required in both Baja California and Baja California Sur as well as all federal highways across Mexico. We would encourage you to purchase Mexican Liability Insurance, it is very inexpensive and could not only save your trip and a fine, but it could save your life. We recommend our long time sponsor West Coast Global Insurance.

As the waters of the Pacific cool we are moving toward the time when our friendly gray whales will return to the southern peninsula. There is perhaps no better place to see them than in the Laguna San Ignacio and we have a connection for you. Take a memorable adventure in Glamping and get eyeball to eyeball with a gray whale.

In the news of this article we have information on Mexico's move toward legalization of marijuana and Uber's arrival in Baja California Sur in time for the peak North American travel season.

So without further ado, here are the stories of interest on the
