There are a plethora of year round adventures in Baja California Sur for the year round traveler and lover of outdoor activities. Winter visitors enjoy whale watching excursions in the Pacific, while summer travelers can enjoy outstanding snorkeling with sea lions and diving in 
the Sea of Cortez . Swimming with the Whale Sharks is also a seasonal favorite, particularly in late winter and through early summer. Winter time in Baja brings lots of folks from the north to visit and whale watching is one of the favorites. The friendly whales of the lagoons on the Pacific coast have attracted a growing number of visitors for the unique experience of interacting with a Gray and Humpbacked whales. Migratory patterns vary, but whale watching season usually runs from mid January through late March. Large numbers of grays congregate in 3 bays along Baja's west coast; Laguna Ojo de Liebre, Laguna San Ignacio and Bahia Magdalena (the southern-most bay, only 3 hours drive across peninsula from La Paz).

Other year round favorites are the Island Excursion to Espiritu Santos and snorkeling with the Sea Lions at Los Islotes. All of the Islands in the Sea of Cortez are protected and fishing is limited along most coastal areas of the islands 1k out. This has made the islands a thriving sanctuary for marine life. The rugged islands rise abruptly from the crystal blue green waters of the Sea with fiery rock walls and jagged cliffs. Hiking and kayaking around the island can bring spectacular vistas and new discoveries. But probably the favorite activity of the Islands is to snorkel with the friendly sea lions of Los Islotes. The small rock cluster a few hundred yards off the shore of the island is a sea lion rookery. The 
young sea lions will tug at your fins and dart playfully about you as they taunt you into play in their watery world.
