Rosarito's Children, DIF and Other Local Charitable Needs

DIF Facility in RosaritoSr Torres stands up for Baja CahritiesDIF is the City Agency who assists families in need and every City in México has this agency. The Mayor's wife always heads up this agency during the Mayor's three year term. Mrs. Torres (right photo) was being interviewed last week at a school Breakfast Program.

DIF has many needs and several ways that we can support and it goes direct to the "kids".
DIF has a program for children who need breakfast each morning. Rosarito has 38 Elementary Schools and parents can apply for their child to be in the DIF Breakfast Program. There are volunteer Mothers everyday who prepare the breakfasts in the kitchen at the school.   DIF requires the parent(s) attend "Parenting Classes" which teaches the parents about the value of good nutrition, discipline of their children, homework importance, etc.

Baja California Children in NeedAMPI, the local Realtor's Association is adopting classrooms to provide the kids breakfasts.

Anyone can make a donation specifically for this program and the cost is this:
Classroom: 40 Students is $118.50 for one month.
One Child is $3.00 per month.

These are cold breakfasts at 2 Pesos per breakfast.
Classroom: 40 Students is $237.00 for one month.
DIF of MexicoOne Child is $6.00 per month.

These are hot breakfasts at 4 Pesos per breakfasts. The donation can be made in your name and you're welcome to go to the school and see your money really helping these kids in our monthly school visits! Checks should be made to AMPI and an official receipt will be issued for an income tax deduction.

For $100.00 Dollars per YEAR, you can sponsor a child and that $100.00 purchases this: School Uniform for the classroom, Sports Uniform, shoes, back pack and a few school supplies. You are paired up with the child so you know who your donation went to. At the beginning of the school year, in the parking lot of DIF at a designated date & time, the children are issued their new uniforms and shoes. Lot's of happy faces that day! It is very fun to attend this event. DIF is not set up to accept US checks, but AMPI can accept USA checks and pass through the Drop off locationsfunds to DIF. School starts in August of each year.

AMPI'S BLANKET PROGRAM
Last week we delivered our first blankets to needy families east of Rosarito. We looked for the houses that were made with any materials other than brick or block". The faces were shining with appreciation and big smiles!

Children helped by Blanket ProgramBring a new blanket (or three or four) to any AMPI Member's office and they will be collected for another delivery to the people who are cold. Come and go with us! Get a store to donate! Walmart in Rosarito donated 50 blankets last week to this effort.

YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES EXACTLY!
There is a Mexican Family that has a heart of gold and they hold their door open to kids who need a place to stay. They are abandoned kids.   There are 14 children from ages 3 to 14 living in this house that does not have running water. They have a small refrigerator (no freezer) and their roof leaks. Eleven of the boys sleep in ONE BED and the 3 girls sleep in a bed. The upstairs rooms are not usable now because of the roof. An American contractor is putting a new roof on the house for them and one of the AMPI Members donated 4,000 Pesos for that to be completed right now. Their needs are for everything, including; clothing, food, a full size refrigerator, and some kitchen cabinets (if you know anyone remodeling a kitchen). They have one little boy who can't go to school because he has no Birth certificate! We are working on that issue. We will accept donations on behalf of this large family of lost children.End
