Baja Musician Releases Two New Albums

E.C.Davis a well known musician in Southern Baja, has released two all original albums on the internet worldwide. The albums are titled, ”One Night Stanzas”, and E.C. Come E.C. Go”. T hey are available on Amazon, Itunes, Napster, eMusic and Rhapsody. You can also get two free downloads on Last.fm an internet radio station.

E.C. has been playing music for about 45 years all over the US. He has been in Baja for over 11 years. He jump started the music scene in the Todos Santos area in 1996 at the famous surf spot San Pedito RV Park, where he played for Happy Hour on Fridays with standing room only. His dog Bebop, who has since passed away, used to sit in front of E.C. and when Bebop heard him play “Cottonfields” Bebop would sing and the crowd would go wild. Those were great times.

In 2000, E.C. started playing in the Los Cabos area and ended up at Zippers and the now closed trailer park, Brisa del Mar. He specializes in music of the Boomer generation, Country, Rock, Folk, and tropical country, both Jimmy Buffett’s and his own originals. He is planning a third CD with a few songs about Baja. The new album will be named “ E.C. Does It”. If you are in the San Jose area come to Zippers in Costa Azul and have some fun.

One Night Stanzas

E.C., originally came to Southern Baja on a sailboat delivery in 1968. He was on a 26 foot Pearson Commander, no dingy or radio. The arrogance of youth. They hit a nasty storm leaving Magdalena Bay, and lost most of their food and money, arrived at the Cape rounded the corner and sailed into Cabo San Lucas. Cabo was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his life. There, they dropped anchor in front of the only hotel, The Hacienda. After swimming ashore, The alcalde or mayor found him and his shipmates passed out on the beach. It was December 24th,1968.

E.C. and his friends were invited to a Posada (Christmas Party) up on the hill in an old adobe dance hall in what is now Pedregal. It was a beautiful evening. The next morning the entire village came down to the warf (there was no marina) and brought food and drinks and sent us on our way to Mazatlan.

Playing as a solo musician can be lonely and rewarding. With their own backup or acoustically, they spend thousands of hours perfecting their art. When you hear a good solo act, show your appreciation with a tip (I don’t mean get out of town), or just going up to the artist and saying thanks for the great music. There are a lot of great musicians in Southern Baja go out and enjoy some good music tonight!

The Mexican people have a huge heart. Ever since that trip in 1968,.they have left a soft spot in E.C.’s, the way they helped the young adventuring Gringos. They would give you the food off their table if you are in need. They are a beautiful people with great traditions. E.C. always knew in the back of his head that he would end up here!A gain have a very Merry Christmas.
