Dental Savings with Mexican Dentist
Medical Tourism and specifically Dental Tourism as the phrase indicates are those places where people travel to have their dental or medical needs taken care of such as Baja California, Mexico. People have been coming more and more to San Jose del Cabo for their dental vacation to visit one of the better equipped, English speaking, dentists of Los Cabos area of Baja California Sur. Angels Touch Dentistry has seen a great insurgence of new clients from all over the world as Dr. Rosy Pena has increased her practice after being feature on the ABC Good Morning America TV show featuring the Patton’s family dental vacation.
Dr. Pena hires only English speaking dentist at her San Jose del Cabo office and she is under contract with some of the best hotels in Los Cabos like the Presidente, Hilton, The One and Only Palmilla, local banks and government consulates providing dental work for their guests as well as their employees. Brenda Patton a doctor’s wife, from Washington State planned to come down for a full mouth restoration including the installation 27 crowns. The Patton’s did all of this as well as the whole family received dental checkups and cover their travel costs just by the savings of having the work done in Mexico versus the U.S.A. The reason costs are still much lower for many reasons. The costs of living in México are lower and therefore the dentist do not need nor expect to be paid what their counterpart professionals in other countries require to live. Lab, insurance, employee costs and office rents are much lower as well. An example of this is that porcelain crowns costs anywhere between $800 - $2500 USD in the big cities of America and they only cost $450- $700 USD here in Los Cabos.
Dental tourist lower prices are not the only determining factor of course as the quality of service should be of the up most concern of those looking for dental work. Dr. Pena was asked not only for referrals of her past patients of which many gladly offered to ABC but she also voluntarily subjected herself to a drilling (excuse the pun) by a New York dentist by telephone testing her knowledge of dentistry and she passed with flying colors. Dr. Pena actually has been practicing longer than the NY dentist and she is an endodontist as well as a cosmetic dentist, a recipient of a national medal in dentistry, former President of the Baja Dental Association and graduated from Dental College at the top of her class with High Honors.
The NY dentist commented when the show finally aired that Mexican dentists can be very professional with the same expertise and training as dentist in the U.S.A. The NY dentist also commented that most people don’t have a month to take off of work to go see a dentist. Brenda did not need to take a month off to have the work done it was all done within a week. She just chose to use her savings from the $40,500 that it would have costs if she had done the dental makeover in NY or $25-$35,000 had the work been done in Washington where she lived for example versus the $12,000 she paid at Angels Touch to have it all done!
I personally have used Dr. Pena and her associates for minor and major dental work over the years and have found a high level of professionalism and a very clean dental clinic that matches any where I have been in the U.S.A. which unfortunately through the years has been a lot places.
