CostaBaja Resort Develops Lifestyle Living going Green
IMAGINE…A DEVELOPER WITH A SOCIAL CONSCIENCE.
Usually, early summer is considered the slowest time of year in La Paz. It is in between the winter tourist season and the summer crowd, which joins us for fishing, diving and other recreational activities in the deliciously warm Sea of Cortez. But not so this summer, things have been busy here at CostaBaja Resort & Marina.
With an increasing number of the residences occupied, real estate owners are finding out just how enjoyable the CostaBaja Beach Club can be. Members and their guests are now enjoying long afternoons by the refreshing pool, their favorite beverage from the bar and lunch, poolside, from the restaurant. As the sun sinks low in the sky, many CostaBaja Resort & Marina home owners take the opportunity for a frosty happy hour beverage as the evening breeze kicks in from the southwest, taking the edge off the heat of the day.
Recently, we have had some fabulous events here at CostaBaja Resort as well. First, there was the appearance of Samantha Rae, a local contestant on Latin American Idol on a full stage constructed for the event at the entrance to Pueblo Marinero. With the sun setting across the Bahia de La Paz as a backdrop, (Latin American Idol name here) entertained more than 200 people in an intimate setting that has now become the trademarked elegance of a CostaBaja Resort & Marina event.
The following night a crowd turned out for the send-off party for Paola Espinosa Sanchez, the hometown girl on her way to Beijing to pursue Olympic Gold. Paola is a high diver with several Pan-American Games medals to show
for her efforts so far, with high hopes of bringing home a medal at this summer’s Olympic Games. A tribute to her efforts is now on display consisting of various photography, medals, and swim gear in the CostaBaja Resort & Marina gallery.
A new sewage treatment facility across the road from the entrance to CostaBaja Resort & Marina is under construction. This social conscious endeavor will reclaim treated water assisting the community of La Paz. For news of the resort, construction has begum for the first phase of the VistaMar Residential community village and master planned development.
The VistaMar Residences will provide 63 luxury ocean view condominiums in the 6 story building, overlooking the marina and the Bay of La Paz.. Construction crews have been working virtually around the clock to prepare the foundation for the new home owners. Phase One of the VistaMar community is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in early of 2010.
However, those interested in making an investment in La Paz real estate should contact a sales agent from CostaBaja Resort & Marina as soon as possible. Homes in the Vista Mar Residence are now being sold in higher numbers on a monthly basis. The unit layout and finish of these luxury units will be befitting the spectacular view and location of these oceanview residences.
The other big step forward in the foreshortened development schedule, facilitated by the partnership with Grupo Concord announced last month, is the water treatment facility. With water as a precious commodity here in Baja, CostaBaja Resort will use waste water from the city of La Paz to irrigate the 18 hole Gary Player Design course. The multi million dollar project will serve the La Paz community as a whole in several ways. Of course, conserving the potable water resources for human consumption is an obvious benefit. But, with the La Paz community growing so quickly it will also serve to efficiently process the waste water into water safe for irrigation, taking some of the load off from the local infrastructure.
The Gary Player Design course is scheduled to begin construction later this summer and be ready for the first tee-off in early 2010.
As we have past the mid-point of July we are seeing a return of the sport fishing crowd. The fishing has really started to take off in just the last few days, when the water temperature just shot up about 2°C. Wahoo, Dorado and Marlin are practically jumping into the boat’ according to one of the resident fishing addicts here.
Diving in the Sea of Cortez is world famous, and like the fishing the diving season is just kicking into gear as well. Early summer brings a host of new life to the Sea, great for the indigenous species, but it really clouds the visibility. We measured visibility of close to 40’ on a dive just minutes away from the conveniently located marina. In a few weeks it will get even more spectacular, where I could count the blades on the boat prop from the bottom, 110’ below!
Even for those who are not seasoned scuba divers; this is the time of year when the Sea is spectacular for aquatic enjoyment. Bring your bathing suit, some sun screen and hoist up your favorite ice cold beverage; we’ll be waiting for you here at CostaBaja Resort & Marina.
