East Cape has long been heralded as a sportsman's paradise. Fishing resorts, dive adventures and miles of endless beaches have attracted movie stars and Baja recluses alike.
Los Barriles and the surrounding East Cape have a more casual atmosphere yet are still convenient to the shopping and supplies of the Los Cabo Region.
There are area markets, restaurants and ample support services. Mexico Hwy 1 runs through the region to La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. In a significant effort in the fall of 2007, most of the major streets in central Los Barriles were paved. Most streets outside of town are still gravel.
