07/27/2008 9:38 AM MDT Genevieve has been downgraded to a tropical depression as it heads off into the Pacific. No further updates will be issued on this system.
Hurricane Genevieve is currently located near 17.0N 124.9W and is moving 270° at 11kts. Central Barometric pressure is estimated at 1006Mb and winds are 25kts with gusts to 35kts.
Tropical Depression 8E was formed some 250 miles SSW of Acapulco on the morning of July 21, as a result of a broad area of low pressure interacting with a tropical wave moving across the isthmus of Tehuantepec. TD8E was upgraded to TS Genevieve on the afternoon of July 21. Genevieve was unexpected upgraded to a Category 1 Hurricane on the morning of July 25 as it continued to move west into the Pacific. Geneveive fell back to tropical storm status on 7/26 abd was downgraded to a tropical depression on 9/27.
