Surf break at normally mello Medano Beach9AM from the BajaInsider Cabo San Lucas office:

"Cabo is already seeing much larger surf on the local Medano beach which rarely sees much large surf. Considering Hurricane Rick is so far away these swells are bound to get larger and more dangerous with the higher tides like tomorrow morning and any after that as the storms moves towards Baja

I took a few quick photos and video from down at the Mango Deck area. Unfortunately the photos and video cannot due justice as wave were actually going over Pelican rock. At this point the Cabo bay is calm and there are no winds at all, just a very impressive swell hitting Land’s End.

Surf breaks at Land's End from Hurricane RickAn interesting report in from a good friend and Cabo local, Frank Rowden, who was out at Cabo Pulmo this morning,” we went south of Los Frailes and the surf was not very big, less than one foot but when we went north to La Ribera we found flooding and waves coming up onto to the road just north of Cabo Pulmo.

The road to Cabo Pulmo is only for 4x4 vehicles now and probably will be getting worse with the next high tide. There also seemed to be big waves from the distance hitting near Punta Colorado. What really amazed us, is that on the trip back to Cabo; Zippers was not that big but Old Mans right next to it was larger and El Tule was very big with possible 15’-20’ faces.”

1:08PM from Jim Duff in Cabo San Lucas

Sitting here at Terrasol condo which is on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas at 1100 hours watching giant rollers hitting the beach. Lots of rain coming down now. walked into town, 5 minutes away, this AM and watched them pulling boats out of the harbor and moving the larger boats to the back of the harbor. Lots of boats and fishermen in town for the Bisbee Black and Blue tournament. We keep checking bajainsider.com and stormpulse.com Good luck to us all for right now. Jim

1:30PM from Jeep Harding in Pescadero (50 miles north of Cabo on the Pacific)

We had a hum-dinger of a thunderstorm yesterday.  Only .7" at my place but much more inland.  The drainage above Pescadero flashed and it came through town, across the highway and ran straight and true down the new Tequila Factory road.  It was 3' from side to side.  I just came back from wading around the Tequila Factory.  Huge waves from Rick sent the beaches awash and it poured into the Tequila Factory.  Remember, no dunes there anymore.

4:30PM from our La Paz office of the BajaInsider

We enjoyed a partly cloudy day until about 3PM clouds have thickened and there are periodic sprinkels. Winds are from the SE at about 10kts and it looks like we may get some showers shortly. This is partly due to the increased humidity in advance of the storm triggering our usual afternoon thunderstorms. No real significant effects at this time.
