July 7, 2009 10:30 AM MDT Tropical Storm Blanca has strengthened slightly this morning now some 465 miles SSW of Cabo San Lucas. The storm is forecast to continue to weaken throughout the day as it moves WNW into the Pacific. It is unlikely that this system will influence Baja weather.

Tropical Storm Blanca is currently located near 19.0N 115.8W and is moving 295° at 9kts. Central Barometric pressure is estimated at 999Mb and winds are 40kts to 50kts. Blanca has entered sub 26°C waters and will continue to degrade as it moves WNW into the Pacific. If Baja sees any affects at all, it will be increased cloud cover and a higher chance of rain as the tailes of this degenerating strom drift back to the ENE over the next several days.

Tropical Storm Blanca formed on the morning of 7/6/09 420 miles SSW of Cabo San Lucas and is the second tropical cyclone of the 2009 Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season. Blanca strengthened slightly in the 9Am forecast but forecast continue to call for Blanca to fall short of hurricane strength.

This information will be updated following the 12PM MDT release from the National Hurricane Center.
