Tropical Storm Hilda has moved into the Central Pacific Basin. No further information will be posted to this page until historical data is available.
August 22, 2009 Tropical Depression 11E has strenthend more rapidly than expected and is now Tropical Storm Hilda. TS Hilda is about 1930 miles WSW of Cabo San Lucas. The current forecast calls for Hilda to remain a tropical storm through the end of next week and then pass well south of the Hawaiian Island chain. Hilda should not affect Baja weather
Tropical Storm Hilda is located near 13.6N 137.7W and is moving 275° at 9kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1006Mb and winds are 35kts with gusts to 45kts. The initial forecasts called for TS Hilda to take 24+hrs to become a tropical storm. It took about 6 hrs. TS Hilda is forecast to remain a tropical storm through the forecast period and pass well south of the Hawaiian Islands late next week.
TD 11E was upgraded to Tropical Storm Hilda at 3PM on 08/22/09. TD11E formed on the morning of 08/22/09 1880 miles WSW of Cabo San lucas and should have no affect on Baja weather.
