August 26, 2009 9:19 PM MDT Tropical Storm Ignacio is clinging to tropical storm status is it slowly dissipates over cooler waters some 985 miles west of Cabo San Lucas. TS Ignacio crossed into sub 26°C waters earlier today and has been weakening throughout the day. The affects of the storm on Baja may be only increased chance of rain from the spin -off.

At 9PM MDT Tropical Storm Ignacio was located near 23.4N 125.4W and was 320° moving at 12kts. Central barometric pressure was estimated 1003Mb at and winds were 35kts with gust to 45kts.

The forecast indicates that Ignacio is beginning to dissipate as it moves to the NW or WNW into cooler waters. Ignacio is expected to be nothing more than a tropical Low by late Thursday.

TS Ignacio developed from a tropical depression on the evening of 8/24.

It has been seven years since the last Ignacio, a Category 2 hurricane which move directly though La Paz in the first month of the BajaInsider.com. It was one of our very first stories and the beginning of our hurricane weather information services.
