MART DOWNGRADED TO TROPICAL DEPRESSION
Marty has been downgraded to a tropical depression and poses no threat to the Baja peninsula. With the pending storm located to our SE we will discontinue coverage of Marty in preference of this new system. Not further updates will be posted here, although graphics will be continually updated from the NHC as issued.

September 19, 2009 6:48 AM MDT Marty is about 445 miles west of Cabo San Lucas and is moving WNW away from the Baja peninsula. Marty is expected to continue to weaken as it moves in a more westerly direction and the affects on Baja weather should continue to diminish. Marty poses no threat to the Baja peninsula.

At 3AM Tropical Depression Marty was located near 22.2N 116.8W with movement 295° at 8kts. Current barometric pressure is estimated at 1005Mb and winds are 30kts to 40kts. TD Marty is forecast to continue west into the Pacific over the next 48hrs and dissipate without making landfall.

Tropical Depression 16E formed in the early morning hours of 9/16 about 360 miles south of Cabo San Lucas. TS Marty quickly developed into Tropical Storm Marty later that morning and moved to the NNW. Marty was downgraded to a tropical depression on the morning of 9/18. Marty had little affect on Baja weather other than increasing the chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the southern most portions of the peninsula.
