AT 3AM FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IN MIAMI
GILMA CONTINUES TO WEAKEN...EXPECTED TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION LATER TODAY...
Saturday, August 11, 2012 7:36 AM MDT Tropical Storm Gilma is fading away and is likely to become a tropical depression later today. The sysytem crossed the 26°C thermo cline on Wednesday, but has managed to maintain tropical cyclone intensity through today. Gilma is about 675 miles west-southwest of Cabo San Lucas and is not expected to affect Baja weather signifcantly.
Topical Storm Gilma is currently located near 20.0N 119.9W and is moving 335° at 5kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1002Mb and winds are 40kts with gusts to 50kts, making Gilma median tropical storm intensity. The system is forecast continue its steady decline and should disipate later this weekend without making landfall.
