Monday June 26 2017

Sunday 25 June 2017 Clearer skies will prevail today over much of the peninsula, but there will still be several locations with high patchy clouds keeping things just a touch cooler.

In Baja California: The border Pacific region will have three more days of summer like temps in the low to mid 80's then cool down to spring levels with temps bottoming out on Thursday near 72°F/21°C. In the high deserts look for scorching temps close to 120°F/48°C today with a cooling trend beginning tomorrow, bottoming out Thursday with a brisk 107°F/41°C. Along the northern Sea of Cortez look for clear skies through the forecast period and temps just over 102°F/38°C through Monday, cooling to 92°F/32°C on Friday.

In Baja California Sur: The northern Pacific coastal areas will see clear skies through the forecast period with temps near 101°F/38°C today and cooling beginning Wednesday to bottom out on Saturday around 89°F/32°C. In La Paz we have spotty clouds this morning with a high of 89°F/32°C expected today. Monday and Tuesday will warm slightly with temps returning to the upper 80's later in the week. In Los Cabos look for temps in the low to mid 90's through the week with partly to mostly cloudy skies Tuesday and Wednesday with the spin-off from Tropical Cyclone Dora as it passes about 350 miles to the south.

Tropical Watch: We have Tropical Storm Dora spun up off the southern coast of Mexico. The system is expected to remain a tropical storm through the day today and become the season's first Category 1 Hurricane on Monday. Dora is then forecast to bank to the west-northwest and maintain hurricane strength through early Wednesday when cooler waters will again reduce the system to a tropical storm. Dora should move well enough to the south of the peninsula to just bring partly to mostly cloudy skies to the southern most portions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Increased surf along south facing beaches at the tip of the peninsula could produce large surf and a strong undertow at some of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo popular beaches Monday through Thursday.
