Monday, January 16, 2017, This week will bring winter weather, or what Baja calls winter with the threat of rain and temperatures moving in on the low point of the year. A cluster of Highs moving southeast from Idaho and Montana will push a cluster of Lows from the 4 Corners region of the US and push colder air south into the border areas of Baja and into northwestern mainland Mexico over the next several days. This will meet up with tropical moisture moving northeast and it looks like a string of winter days for the northern Pacific coast of Baja. Winter has arrived in Baja California Sur as well with temps only reaching the mid 70's in the southern most locations today. But things will warm up into the week and mid and upper 70's will become the norm by the weekend. There is even a shot at some showers on Saturday from La Paz southward.

The Crossing: Things look benign through late Friday when winds will pick up from the north 15-18kts into the weekend.

In Baja California: Ensenada will be partly cloudy today, sunny tomorrow with increasing clouds on Wednesday. But enjoy it, for it looks like a week of rain, or darn a good chance of rain after that won't let up until next Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the mid 60's through Wednesday and cool to the low 60's during the day and the upper 40's at night through next Wednesday. In Mexicali look for partly cloudy, today and sunny Tuesday and Wednesday with partly to mostly cloudy filling the seven days after that into mid next week. Temps will be in the upper 60's through Wednesday and drop to the low 60's through the new week. In San Felipe, the forecast calls for partly cloudy today, two days of sunshine and two days of partly to mostly cloudy Thursday and Friday with clearing into the weekend. Temps will be in the mid 60's today and warm to the upper 60's through the weekend and it may even break 70°F Saturday. The forecast doesn't call for any specific wind events through the weekend, but the GFS model shows NNE winds 15-18kts developing late Friday into Saturday.

In Baja California Sur: San Ignacio will see partly cloudy today and two days of sunshine before a chance of rain will come along on Friday. Temps will warm from the mid 60's today to the upper 60's on Wednesday. In Loreto look for 7 days of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70's. In La Paz, we have sunny skies today and temperatures expected to reach 72°F things will warm up a little into the week with temps in the mid mid-60's Thursday through Saturday. Los Cabos will be partly cloudy today and Wednesday with a chance of rain on Friday. The rest of the weekdays will be sunny. Temperatures will run in the low 70's through the Thursday and warm to the upper 70's by the weekend. Enjoy your day.
