Loreto is in the final preparations for Carnaval Loreto 2017, which will take as its theme “Light and Magic by the Sea”, and will be held from February 23-26 and uphold the tradition of Carnaval in Loreto.
The mayor of Loreto, Prof. Arely Arce Peralta commented on the importance of carrying out the traditional celebration of the Carnaval lies in bringing the community together for which he reiterated the invitation to all citizens to join the fun.
He explained that members of the community have been working on the events since last December, under the coordination of the Municipal Institute of Attention to Youth, headed by C. Humberto Carmona,
They announced the calls for the four categories of competition that will be held during Carnaval festivities, including: King & Queen of the Carnaval, Children’s King &Queen, marching groups, and parade floats. In the King & Queen of the Carnaval and Children’s King & Queen, the method of selection will be through two aspects, first the votes and secondly with a contest, which consists of judging selected costuming, a personality question and a talent.
As for the competitions of marching groups and parade floats the prizes will be $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 pesos for the first three places respectively.
All are invited to the community event, a carnaval on a smaller scale more personal event that the other two carnavals happening on the peninsula a the same time, but a unique slice of Baja life just the same.
