Tee Markers for the CostaBaja Golf Club

It has always been part of the CostaBaja vision to protect the natural beauty of this unique location on the Sea of Cortez and to include the ambiance of the local culture in the resort.

Centuries before Europeans knew this magnificent peninsula existed, native peoples chose to call the very shores and hillsides of CostaBaja home. Part of the legacy of these pre-Columbian peoples that lived in Baja are the mysterious and engaging cave paintings.

Found in caves and rock walls in a variety of places in Baja, the cave paintings depict indigenous animals, hunting and simple human figures in once bright colors, derived from minerals and berries. Their exact message remains a mystery, for these primitive works of art that were painted over a period of years, from 1700BC to 1300AD.

The CostaBaja Golf Club, operated by Troon Golf, incorporated this historical aspect by identifying each of the 18 holes of the course with a different character from the cave paintings. A local artist was commissioned to create unique Tee Markers of these characters that add an interesting feature to each hole. Just one more of the little touches that make CostaBaja a unique place to live and play
