9AM MDT Thursday, July 14, 2016: Darby is now a Category 1 Hurricane churning westward about 665 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas. Hurricane Darby is forecast to strengthen a little more over the next 36-48hrs and peak with sustained winds of around 80kts as it moves west into the open Pacific. Darby is forecast to follow a simiar path to both Blas and Celia and poses no threat to the Baja peninsula.
At 3PM Hurricane Darby was located near 15.9N 116.9W and was moving 270° at 10kts. Central barometric pressure is 996Mb and winds were 70kts with gusts to 85kts, making Darby just of Category 1 Hurricne intensity Hurricane forecast winds extend out on the north side of the system 20 miles nd 15 miles on the south side. Fifty kt winds extend out 40 miles on the northern side of Darby and 30 miles on the southern side Tropical storm force winds extend out 80 miles on the northern side of the system and 60 miles in the southern sectors. Twelve foot seas extend out 180 to 210 miles on the northern side of Hurricane Darby and 120 to 150 miles on the southern side of the storm.
Tropical Storm Darby should pose no threat to the Baja peninsula.
