Heather C. Borquez – Sales Representative DIAMANTE Associates La Paz
I first came to the Baja peninsula in 2011 and fell in love with the area; its fantastic views, desert landscape, wide vistas of sparking water, warm and hospitable people and the active community living here.
After visiting La Paz for several years we started purchasing investment property here, with the help of Diamante Associates Real Estate office. In June of 2015 my husband Antonio and I moved here permanently. I joined Diamante Associates as a real estate sales agent shortly after.
I am convinced that La Paz , Baja Sur offers the best quality of life on the Baja Peninsula; great amenities and services (yes we have good hospitals and clinics, good bilingual schools, universities, a Walmart, Home Depot, Liverpool etc.) along with some of the most beautiful views in the world, a peaceful and serene lifestyle in a boating and kayaking heaven on the Sea of Cortes, and the chance to explore Jacques Cousteau’s “aquarium”.
The City of La Paz faces the Bay and the views are endless as city officials have wisely forbidden construction along the Malecon (boardwalk) so we can continue to enjoy the spectacular ocean views along the 5 mile long ocean Malecon, used every morning by joggers, walkers and yoga or aerobic enthusiasts, and every evening by families and lovers strolling along the Malecon.
La Paz is quiet, serene and secure. But it isn’t dead or boring!. There is loads to do – from charity work, to painting classes, to book clubs, photography, and Tango class, to all kinds of water and marine activities. Nightlife is great – good restaurants are everywhere and nightclubs and bars are noisy and fun. As the capital city of Baja California Sur La Paz is a working Mexican city and that is perhaps one of its charms. It doesn’t exist to serve tourists, rather, the large expat population that lives here year round – or part of the year, melt into the community and enjoy living in a truly Mexican city that feels more like a town. Most of us enjoy going to the fresh markets and buying our fish directly from the fishermen themselves, as well as eating delicious treats from our organic market vendors; including French pastry chefs, Italian chefs and Uruguayan transplants, all enjoying working and living in La Paz.
I am originally from Ottawa, Canada and have lived in Mexico since 2011. Prior to Mexico I spent 25 years living in Africa and Latin America working for the UN and other humanitarian organizations such as Plan international and CARE. I am fluent in Spanish and married to a Mexican. I love helping people solve their housing problems and I really enjoy showing off my new hometown of La Paz. I can help buyers choose the best property for their lifestyle and budget as well as how to navigate Mexican real estate laws. I am a seasoned investor in rental properties, both in Canada and Mexico, and I know what investors look for. I have numerous contacts here in the legal profession, in the construction/property management business and vacation rental business, as well as tradespeople and cleaners. If you wish, I can help you buy a beautiful vacation home and maximize its value by using it as a vacation rental when you are not here.
When you work with me, you have the added support of Diamante Associates’ incredible team of top notch experts in the Baja peninsula. These professionals comprise one of the best sales teams in the area.
