Monday 28 November 2016 Baja wintery weather is pushing south down the peninsula and rain will fall along the Pacific coastal areas and colder temperatures across the board. Later in the week another series of Highs will move into the 4 Corners region of the US and expect Santa Anna conditions in the high desert and Pacific coastal areas and a north wind in the Sea of Cortez. How these Highs develop and how far south they plunge will determine how strong these winds will become, we’ll follow the development into the week. 

Tropical Watch: Just three days left on this segment of our forecast and there is no tropical cyclone formation expected before the end of the season.

The Crossing: It is going to blow steadily from the NNW along the Pacific coast of Baja with winds 18-28kts, strongest along the coast of Baja California. In the central southern Sea of Cortez, the winds will be light, under 12kts from the north to NNE through Wednesday. Thursday winds will begin to push aggravated sea state south into the central Sea but strong winds don’t appear to be forecast much south of Loreto but look for confused seas to 5′ in the southern Sea. 

In Baja California: Ensenada will have a brisk 63°F today with a good chance of showers. Tomorrow will clear and warm to the upper 60’s Temps will bounce around the upper 60’s through late week, but the weekend is forecast to be sunny and warm back into the low 70’s. Winds will develop late Wednesday and into Thursday from the NNW reaching 18kts. In Mexicali look for partly cloudy today and Friday with sunshine in between. Temperatures will fall from the low 70’s today to the mid and upper 60’s through late week. It will be very windy on Friday with winds from the NNW to 24kts. In San Felipe look for sunshine through Thursday and partly cloudy Friday and Saturday with temperatures just shy of 70°F through Thursday, then a little cooler into the weekend. Winds will Friday and Saturday from the NNW to 25kts.

In Baja California Sur: San Ignacio will have a couple of partly cloudy and brisk days with temps in the upper 60’s. Wednesday skies will clear but temperatures will only clear 70°F on Thursday before cooling into the weekend. In Loreto look for partly cloudy today and Friday and a chance of rain on Saturday. Temperatures will run in the mid to upper 70’s through the period. This afternoon through Wednesday will be breezy from the north to 16kts and another blow from the north on Friday and Saturday to a forecasted 18kts at this time. In La Paz look for partly to mostly cloudy today, Wednesday and Friday with temperatures in the upper 70’s through Friday. A substantial cooling will happen over next weekend with temps working hard to reach 70°F. There will be a north wind on Wednesday to 16kts and ramp up again on Friday into Saturday reaching 18kts from the NNW. In Los Cabos, the forecast calls for partly cloudy today and Wednesday through Friday, with sunshine the other days of the week. Temps will be in the upper 70’s through Saturday when it will cool to the low 70’s. Look for winds to 18kts from the NNW on Saturday. Enjoy your day…
