For more than two weeks, an excess of 1000 confirmed new cases per day except for just two days, possibly due to weekend accounting. Statewide the number of active cases has dropped by about 1000 over last week's high of 8,500+, or more than 1% of the state's population The more remote communities of Comondú and Mulegé, with limited medical resources have been stressed, so those municipalities have been reduced to Level 4.

Effective January 13, 2022 Baja California Sur has returned to Level 3 COVID-1 restrictions. Business occupancy, sale of alcohol and some social events are restricted. The number of confirmed cases has been soaring by more than 1000 new cases per day, except for Sunday which presented 675 new cases. Hospital occupancy has risen as of Thursday as well, to account for 69% of the available beds and 16% of the ventilators. Click here for more

Monday and Tuesday will see the coolest temperatures of the week ahead as a strong north wind will blow down the Sea of Cortez from a High the Four Corners Region of the US. Partly to mostly cloudy skies Tuesday and Wednesday, with temps climbing back to the low 80°'s/ 27°C by Thursday and Friday. Another front may bring us the chance of showers over next weekend.

The first full week of January 2022 saw a record number of new cases of COVID-19 presenting in Baja California Sur. For five consecutive days there were more than 1000 new cases per day reported in the state. There were four deaths from the virus in the past week. State Healthcare officials speculated that as much as 1% of the population of the state was infected in the last four weeks.
