Baja is a beautiful place of variety! The desert, mountain and ocean terrain, along with wonderful beaches, opportunities for adventure, and different styles of hotels can provide the perfect vacation experience for everyone. Whatever you want to do on vacation is here in Baja! You can find everything from the laid back life style of the warm and loving Mexican people to the exciting life of a jet setter with parties, yachts, and luxurious vacation villas.

The varied terrain in Baja stretches for miles with cactus-strewn deserts, craggy mountains and a variety of coastlines that dazzle the eye during the day and thrill the romantic’s heart, especially at sunset from the deck of a sailboat.

Our favorite place in the world is La Paz. The beaches are as varied as the desert terrain. Each beach has its own personality. One of the beaches that is extremely suitable for windsurfing is in La Ventana. Surfers love the beaches towards Todos Santos and along the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula. If you want to have tempting Mexican seafood while playing on the beach, Tecolote Beach is a great place for a gathering either during the day or for dinner in the evening. Balandra Bay is a wonderful little secret hideaway that is perfectly suitable for wading while picking up clams, or swimming with the little ones not quite ready for the ocean. There are many other beaches in the area, but these seem to be the ones we return to again and again.

For those with an adventurous side, the activities in Baja are filled with variety. One of the best scuba dive shops is in La Paz at the La Concha Hotel and Condominiums. They can provide you with everything you need to have the most memorable dive ever. The equipment and escorted tours lead you to the underwater paradise you are eager to photograph and experience. Snorkeling trips are available from a variety of vendors and offers the client up close and personal opportunities to witness sea creatures of all forms, from whale watching to swimming with the dolphins. Of course, one of the area’s most sought-after experience is the fishing! People come from miles around just to experience this quality. Baja also offers horseback riding as well as carriage rides around the Los Cabos area. The nightlife in La Paz or Los Cabos and other outlying towns can be very exciting for those who love to party, especially on the weekends. For those needing relaxation and rejuvenation, massage therapy salons can be the perfect answer.

The hotels in Baja are as varied as the beaches. Each one has its own personality. Our first experience in La Paz was at Las Gaviotas through a timeshare. It really made us feel at home.

Our next hotel experience in La Paz was the La Concha Hotel. We loved the gorgeous bay view from our hotel room. I must confess that we did not stay in the room very much at all. The beach area and pool were just too tempting and the restaurant there is exceptional. Even their room service was excellent!

Our favorite hotel in La Paz is the Hotel Perla. The rooms are basic but huge. It is right on the Malecon and across from the beach and nightlife. A delicious way to begin the day at the Hotel Perla was to have breakfast served right to our room from the restaurant down below, as we watched the day break over the bay from the third-floor window of our hotel room. Jorge on staff in the Hotel Perla was so warm and friendly, we treasure his friendship still. Many of our friends and relatives have their favorite hotels as well in La Paz, such as Los Arcos or the new Fiesta Hotel at the Marina.

Make no mistake, Baja aims to please with the perfect place for everyone to stay, play and enjoy life depending on your lifestyle, taste and needs. If you want fun, adventure, friendly people and beautiful beaches, come to Baja, Mexico. Baja is for everyone!
